Christmas is a time of fun and excitement, but for many people living in Milton Keynes it's a very different situation. The added presure of buying the latest gadgets and toys for our children is huge, then there's presents to buy for all the family and that's without the extra food needed for the Christmas period.
For others it's a time of sadness and lonliness, as they find themselves alone when others are busy surrounded by the ones they love.
These are just a some of the reasons that made a group of friends decide to form feedmk.
We wanted to lay on a free, three course meal and invite single parents, low income families and people that were lonely along to have a meal and enjoy enjoy a fun atmosphere with some live music.
With only six weeks to get this all planned and put in palce the pressure was certainly on. Once the menu was set we just needed a venue and some guests. The MK Citizen kindly ran an advert for us explaining what we were doing and we were fortunate that a local Pastor at The Jesus Celebration Centre let us use his venue.
We got in touch with variuos local organisations and soon found families that were happy to come and share our event. When the day finally arrived we managed to feed over 100 guests, and from the feedback we got it was evident that another similar event would be welcomed.
